We gather pricing data from three sources. First, we check shop websites and published coupon pages for their current service specials and standard pricing. Second, as users submit receipts from recent services, we extract and verify the actual prices paid. Third, shops that claim their listing can update their own pricing directly.
Every price entry records the source (website, receipt, or shop-provided), the source URL when applicable, and the exact date it was last verified.
The "Last Verified" date on every price tells you exactly how fresh that data point is. We re-check shop websites weekly to catch price changes and new coupons. Prices verified within the last 7 days are marked with a green badge. Prices older than 30 days are flagged as potentially outdated.
This freshness signal is what separates PriceMyFix from sites that publish static national averages. Our data is local, current, and sourced.
Auto repair costs vary significantly by vehicle. A full synthetic oil change for a Ford F-150 (7-8 quarts) costs substantially more than the same service on a Toyota Camry (4-5 quarts). Most advertised "starting at" prices cover only 5 quarts.
Where available, we note vehicle-specific pricing differences so you get an accurate expectation for your particular vehicle.
